The Bear Lake Road Corridor is a gateway to some of Rocky Mountain National Park's best-known destinations.
Bear Lake Road is a paved 9.2-mile road that begins near the Beaver Meadows Entrance and climbs from about 8,200 feet to 9,475 feet at Bear Lake Parking Area and Trailhead. The corridor includes Moraine Park, Sprague Lake, Park & Ride, Bierstadt Lake Trailhead, Glacier Gorge Trailhead, and Bear Lake.
Because this is one of the park's most visited areas, access planning matters. During the 2026 timed-entry season, Bear Lake Road access between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. requires a Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road reservation. Parking at Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge fills early, and NPS recommends using Park & Ride and the shuttle system during busy periods.
